Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, said Thursday that the government is all set to promote the country’s e-sports, which will give young people a new chance to make money.

He was speaking at a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony held here between the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).

The Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Dr Fehmida Mirza, accompanied the Federal Minister.

He said Pakistan is a nation made up of a large chunk of the population of young people. The number of our 13- to 17-year-olds was in the millions.

Like the Pakistan Super League, the whole country will be split into six e-sports regions, he said.

“We are also bringing video gaming in Lahore Karachi” he said.

In Pakistan, Chaudhry Fawad said that numerous games were played and many of our kids made a name for themselves in these sports.

Chaudhry Fawad said about the innovations in the health sector that two of the biggest brands in the world are coming to Pakistan’s health sector.

He also stated that by the month of April, two major cannula factories will be set up in the region.

The Federal Minister announced that this is the science and technology year, and that science and technology are now being discussed all over the world.

Dr Fehmida Mirza, speaking on the occasion, said that during the COVID-19 days, the e-sports industry witnessed a boom.

She said Pakistani kids have won top e-sports prizes. “We will try to include every sport in E-sports” Dr. Mirza added.

She said that teams would be created for various games in all the provinces. “Our children should get opportunities in the field of sports in Pakistan” she said.

The MoU was previously signed between the PSB and the PSF by members of both E-Sports Promotion Institutions in the region.
