PIA Reduced its Fares for Domestic Flights

By next week, Pakistan International Airline (PIA) is going to start releasing payments from the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS).

According to the PIA, in joint collaboration with the PIA, the Ministry of Aviation and the Accountant General of Pakistan, payments to VSS approved applicants will begin next week.

After approval by the government of Pakistan, PIA implemented the VSS for its workers, which was used by nearly 2,000 staff.

Following the Cabinet’s approval, the Ministry of Finance transferred Rs9.6 billion to the Ministry of Aviation. However, VSS payments were audited by the Accountant General of Pakistan, which was objected by the management of the PIA.

A high-level meeting chaired by Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan was held on Thursday.

The meeting was also attended by Arshad Malik, CEO of PIA Air Marshal and Secretary of Aviation.

It was agreed that a special account with the National Bank of Pakistan will be run by PIA .

The zonal office of the Accountant General of Pakistan (AGP) will manage this account and the funds have been transferred to that account, PIA said.
