The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) signed a cooperation agreement with Greater Manchester Chambers of Commerce, which represents over 5,000 registered British companies in the Greater Manchester area of the United Kingdom.

“The landmark first-of-its-kind agreement mandates enhanced commercial partnerships, increased bilateral exchange, mutually beneficial corporate engagements, modernised trade marketing policies, and accelerated bilateral investments and new ventures,” according to a statement released by the FPCCI on Tuesday.

Imran Khalil Naseer, Chairman of the Pak-UK Business Council, briefed the participants on the advantages and merits of FPCCI signing the agreement with GMCC and the start of joint events between businesses on both sides during the virtual meeting.

The first such event will take place in May 2021, with the aim of exploring opportunities and avenues for British businesses in Pakistan. In addition, the GMCC will host reciprocal activities and meetings.

FPCCI President Nasser Hyatt Maggo expressed his sincere desire and determination to improve Pakistan-UK business and trade relations through such decisive and transformative agreements and joint efforts.

Mike Nithavrianakis, British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi and Trade Director for Pakistan, as well as other members of the Department of International Trade, attended the gathering (DIT).
