SMEDA programme to promote e-commerce

The Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has initiated a long-term initiative to increase SMEs’ access to global markets via e-commerce platforms.

“We are going to bring all leading e-commerce organisations into the loop to enable SMEs in Pakistan to reap the maximum benefits from the government of Pakistan’s official arrangement with e-commerce platforms,” SMEDA CEO Hashim Raza stated.

The first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this programme was recently inked in Karachi with the renowned e-commerce company ‘Extreme Commerce,’ which is the country’s first EdTech startup focused exclusively on skills development and capacity building in the e-commerce and digital arenas.

Similarly, skills development programmes will be created to address the shortage of trained labour.
