Dawlance joins WWF-Pakistan for plantation of 5,000 Mangroves on coastal belt

With the goal of combining technology leadership with environmental preservation, Dawlance has partnered with WWF-Pakistan to contribute to environmental sustainability. Both of these resourceful partners will now advance the collaboration by planting 5,000 Mangrove saplings along the coastal belt on June 28, 2021. This significant endeavour is part of the brand’s sustainability aims, which will also encompass numerous environmentally friendly activities in the future, such as green workshops and tree planting.

This massive plantation campaign will demonstrate the critical role of mangroves in maintaining nature’s ecological balance, thereby reducing global warming and climate change and ensuring a secure and healthy future for future generations. Dawlance will sequester an average of 61.1 metric tonnes of atmospheric carbon dioxide every year by fostering and conserving mangrove forests and planting 5,000 mangrove saplings. This engagement with the WWF is part of the “Dawlance for Humanity” campaign, which promotes environmental and economic sustainability while helping the Pakistani populace to enjoy a higher standard of living, education, and healthcare.

Umar Ahsan Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Dawlance, stated: “We recently signed an MOU with WWF Pakistan, and the mangrove plantation is the first step toward many more collaborative initiatives with WWF-Pakistan.” Mangroves are critical as a line of defence against flooding, providing a new ecology for various species. As a responsible and dependable business, Dawlance will continue to promote the concept of “Perfect Balance of Nature and Technology” and contribute to the company’s annual sustainability goals, which align with Arçelik’s vision of sustainability.

Dr Tahir Rasheed, Regional Director of WWF-Pakistan, stated, “The partnership with Dawlance will assist us in increasing the mangrove cover in Pakistan.” Mangroves act as a protective barrier for coastal populations and provide a variety of ecological functions. As a result, this alliance will help secure the continued viability of these critical ecosystems.”

Dawlance, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Arçelik – Europe’s second largest manufacturer – is bringing Arcelik’s inspiring and generous sustainability vision to Pakistan. Following this plantation drive, numerous stakeholders will collaborate to implement a series of large-scale community development activities, ultimately resulting in a greener, cleaner planet for future generations.
