Jazz, one of Pakistan’s largest telecommunications firms, has been fined Rs30 million by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for delivering inadequate service in over a half-dozen cities across the country.

Jazz failed to meet PTA’s Quality of Services Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in seven cities, according to the authority in a statement.

The telecommunications company has also been warned that if it does not enhance the quality of its services in accordance with the license criteria and QoS Regulations, legal action would be taken against it.

According to the PTA, the decision was reached by a panel led by Chairman PTA Maj. Gen. Amir Azeem Bajwa (R), determined Jazz to be in violation of minimal service criteria during a survey performed in December 2020.

Jazz was given a month to enhance services in the seven cities after the survey, but it was unable to fulfill the deadline.

Jazz recently found itself in hot water after its system was down for weeks, preventing users from changing packages, paying bills, and so on.
