Turkish Airlines plans to expand its operations in Pakistan in order to give the greatest services to businessmen and the general public, according to Ali Battal, the airline’s general manager for Islamabad and North.

During his visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Battal stated that the airline was connecting Pakistan with multiple nations, which would contribute to the strengthening of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Turkey.

He reassured the business sector that Turkish Airlines would assist ICCI delegates on their business trips abroad, and noted that Turkey and Pakistan shared a same religion and culture. President of the International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari stated that tight cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey was essential for the expansion of bilateral commerce.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, he lauded Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Turkish Airlines’ initiative to form a code-sharing arrangement.

This will allow Pakistani travellers to fly to Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States from Istanbul, facilitating the business community’s access to these markets.

Turkish Airlines serves 252 international destinations in 122 countries, but Pakistan does not have direct aviation connections to Central Asia.

Bakhtawari advocated that Turkish Airlines launch flights from Istanbul to Central Asian states via Pakistan, so enabling Islamabad to strengthen its trading connections with numerous nations. He requested that Turkish Airlines explore launching direct flights from Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi to several nations in order to better serve the business community and the general people. At least one flight each week will assist the business community in exploring various prospective export markets.

He further expressed the hope that Turkish Airlines would assist PIA in enhancing its performance.
