Local Chinese media reports that the Pakistani ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, revealed a facility dedicated to China-Pakistan trade and investment cooperation at a ceremony in Shenzhen (CEN). Jian Peng, Pakistan’s honorary investment adviser in China, told CEN in an interview that the centre is located in the Shenzhen Hi-tech Park, has a 4000 m2 footprint, and an RMB 30 million investment, and is expected to open in May.

Jian stated that the centre will serve as a permanent showcase for Pakistan, with a variety of functions to boost bilateral cooperation. “It will primarily serve the purposes of displaying Pakistani goods, developing distribution channels, and establishing commercial relations,” he added.

The honorary investment advisor noted that the platform will also serve as “a window” to display Pakistani history, culture, and art, as well as “a bridge” for the people of the two nations to communicate.

According to reports, the commercial divisions of the Pakistani embassy in China, the Pakistani consulate in Guangzhou, and Chinese operators would jointly administer the trade and investment facility.

The Pakistani embassy stated in a tweet on the microblogging site Weibo that the centre will serve as “a significant platform for strengthening Pakistan-China economic ties.”

Ghulam Qadir, Commercial Counselor in the Embassy of Pakistan, Rabbia Nasir, Third Secretary of the Embassy, Sardar Muhammad, Head of Mission/Acting Consul General of Consulate General of Pakistan in Guangzhou, and Muhammad Irfan, Commercial Counselor of Consulate General of Pakistan in Guangzhou, were also present at the launch ceremony.
